Solar Panel and Controller

Post by Steve on Sat Jul 30, 2016 10:09 pm

Not that i wild camp much but i wanted a way to keep my batteries and vehicle battery topped up when i am not hooked upto the mains.

My leisure batteries are both 120 amp

So i got to ordering my bits for the job

First 120 watt solar panel for the roof this is bonded on and has stayed put.

Cables from this come in through the roof through a heavy duty fully sealed cable block bonded to the roof into a overhead locker.

These cables the come down the wall of the van in trunking to the seat box where the batteries are situated.

The wires are attached to the dual charge controller which is set to supply 90% of the power from the panel to the leisure batteries and 10% to the vehicle battery. When the vehicle battery is full the controller delivers 100% to the leisure batteries.

The controller has an external display which shows charge rate etc.

Leisure batteries in situ, with inverter
